SNOW CAMP LOCAL HISTORY

 Beaver Pond Sporting Club is located in historic Snow Camp, NC in Southern Alamance County. It’s beginning dates to the mid 1700’s with the initial establishment of the monthly meeting of friends (Quakers) located on the north bank of the Cane Creek. The meeting place served the community to post notices of interest, announce marriages, settle disputes, and provide fellowship.

The settlement that came to be known as Snow Camp , was born of a legend that told of a group of Pennsylvania hunters. They had discovered bountiful game in the area and made camp near the present town during a heavy snowfall.
